Sustainable Grazing Land Management for Cape York Peninsula Pastoral Properties
This program is building the capacity of land managers to develop sustainable grazing management systems on a property-wide scale. These large pastoral properties form a mosaic on the savanna flood plains of Cape York Peninsula and require unique management practices.
The GLM workshop series begins by mapping infrastructure and land types, followed by the identification of key grazing management issues, then theory and practice in land condition assessment and monitoring, these latter committed to a paddock book that estimates carrying capacity for each paddock and gives a basis for a planned grazing, spelling and burning program.
This program integrates all components of land management for delivery to the landholders to promote sustainable land use.
